Vinod Khanna, one of the very popular heartthrobs is no more. The actor was admitted to the hospital for undisclosed reasons, which the family members later mentioned as a case of severe dehydration. There have been murmurs that Vinod Khanna had been getting treatment for cancer instead, especially since that viral pic of a visibly weak Vinod Khanna standing with his wife Kavita Khanna and son, Sakshi Khanna at the hospital. However, his son Akshaye Khanna later spoke to entertainment portal, SpotBoye, where he said his father was doing well. So this piece of news of him passing away will definitely be a terrible shock to his many fans.

Vinod Khanna had made his debut in 1968 in Sunil Dutt’s Man Ka Meet, where he played the villain, despite his natural good looks. He is actually one of the very few actors in Bollywood who made a successful transition from villainy to heroism. He continued to play villains in movies like Purab Aur Paschim, Sachaa Jhutha, Aan Milo Sajna, and Mastana, with his most popular negative role being in Dharmendra’s Purab Aur Paschim, where he played a dacoit. With the 1971 movie Hum Tum Aur Woh, he made his debut as a leading man with more such roles in Achanak, Mere Apne, Inkaar, and also being a part of blockbusters like Amar, Akbar, Anthony, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar and Qurbaani.

He left the industry for 5 years, when he was at the peak of his career, to follow the spiritual guru, Osho Rajneesh. When he returned in 1987, he still continued to get leading roles in movies like Jurm and Chandni. He later transitioned to supporting roles in the ’90s and his last released movie was Dilwale, where he played Shah Rukh Khan and Varun Dhawan. He also entered politics and was a sitting Bharatiya Janata Party member of the Lok Sabha from the Gurdaspur constituency in Punjab.

He is succeeded by his wife, Kavita Khanna and his children, actors Rahul Khanna and Akshaye Khanna from the first marriage and Sakshi and Shraddha from his second. We do pray that God gives them strength in these hard times.

Vinod Khanna, thank you for all those wonderful roles and movies that you have given us! May your soul rest in peace.
