Baahubali: The Beginning v/s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion – which part of Prabhas and Rana Daggubati’s film has the upper hand after day one at the box office?
Prabhas and Rana Daggubati‘s Bahubali 2 is here and looks like it is already on its way to break a few records. The movie opened with an insane occupancy of 95 per cent today morning; beating the likes of Salman Khan’s Sultan, Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees and Aamir Khan‘s Dangal. But that’s not it! Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has also convincingly beaten Baahubali: The Beginning on day one. Surprised? Well, don’t be! The hype and mass hysteria surrounding the sequel is way more than what was around the prequel. So obviously the occupancy would be higher right?
Baahubali: The Beginning had started off with an occupancy of 70 per cent across India, slightly higher down South. Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, on the other hand, has opened with an occupancy of 95 per cent across India and housefull in the South. With double the screens (The first part had got 4000 screens, while the second has got 8000 screens) and a higher occupancy, the sequel is all set to rake in a higher amount at the box office too.
We all know how Baahubali: The Beginning had earned Rs 50 crore at the box office on day one. And our trade expert – Akshaye Rathi (exhibitor and distributor) revealed to us that Bahubali 2 will earn Rs 65-70 crore on the first day. In fact, with such a fantastic start, the film might even touch the Rs 100 crore mark. But we will have to keep an eye out for that.
Meanwhile, the film has got really good reviews and with an amazing word of mouth publicity growing for the movie, we guess Baahubali 2: The Conclusion might rake in Rs 250 crore at the box office over the weekend, becoming the highest first weekend grosser ever.
