Baahubali 2 is on a rampage in Andhra Pradesh and Telagana.
Baahubali 2 is best described as a storm and not a film. It has gone beyond the parameters of cinema. Today, it is an emotion. An emotion that’s invading everyone’s life and people are thronging theatres to feel it. There was a complete lull before this storm at the box office as films weren’t making much noise there. And then came Baahubali 2 and Indian Cinema couldn’t be happier. According to reports, the film has earned nearly Rs 113 crore in the opening day, beating every record that there in terms of first day collection. One of those is of being the highest opening day ever for a Telugu film in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana with Rs. 53 crore.
Quoting a Trade Analyst Trinath, IANS reported, “The film has taken a phenomenal opening. In Andhra and Telangana, the film in Telugu minted Rs. 53 crore, making it the biggest opening ever for any film across language in the two states. The film is expected to collect over Rs. 100 crore from the two states over the weekend.” Trinath added further, “If the early morning shows were not cancelled across Tamil Nadu on Friday, the film could have collected even more. According to early estimates, it has minted around Rs. 12 crore. It’s going pick up over the weekend…” Kerala brought in Rs 7 crore. The Hindi version of the film earned over Rs. 41 crore which is more than what Salman Khan’s Sultan (Rs. 36.56 crore) and Dangal (Rs. 29.78 crore).
If we go by what Trade is predicting, be prepared to see some massive numbers coming your way. Lifetime collections of Rs 500 crore is expected from the film in the domestic market whereas Trade is hopeful it will go past Dangal’s Rs 700 crore worldwide gross. If that happens, it will become the wealthiest Indian film ever. The highest grosser of Indian Cinema is a Telugu movie which has broken every stereotype that people had in mind.
