Here’s all you need to know about Mohanlal’s Randamoozham
There have been several talks about SS Rajamouli’s next project being Mahabharata. But somebody else has already beat him to do this. Ad filmmaker-turned-director VA Shrikumar Menon is all set to take on this mega budget ambitious project. It’s based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s book – Randamoozham. UAE businessman – B.R. Shetty reportedly will invest Rs 1000 crore in this project. The story will be told from Bhima’s perspective. Ever since this grand project was announced, it has been the topic of discussion.
#As per reports on The Hindu, The ad filmmaker turned director was interested in making the book into a film, two years ago itself. The author then mentioned that this film would require a canvas way bigger than what previous films had been made on. The director assured him a global team of the world’s best technicians. That’s when the author started to work on the script, and four months later a fully bound script was ready.
#As per further reports, the 600 page book has been re-written into a screenplay of more than 190 scenes. The film will be made into two parts and the project will go on floors in 2018 and wll mostly likely be ready for a 2020 release. It will be out in five languages – Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, English) They will also make an international version to suit Hollywood standards. The film will release in two parts.
#Mohanlal has been confirmed to play Bheema’s role. There have been rumours –Nagarjuna, Aishwarya Rai, Amitabh Bachchan have been roped in to be part of this film. But an official annoucement is yet to be made. Meanwhile Mohanlal is honoured to be part of this project – “like many of us, I grew up to the tales of the Mahabaratha. I consider myself lucky to be named to play Bheema who is the pivotal character in Randamoozham. I am thankful to everyone who believes in me.”

#SS Rajamouli in an interview, opened about Mahabharata – “I want to do Mahabharata and I have said that many times but definitely not immediately after Baahubali. Mahabharat is such an epic that I need to up my craftsmanship to handle such a subject. Yeah I met Aamir ji once quite sometime back, We spoke about Mahabharata. I know that he’s very much interested in doing the film. But as I said, at present I am not thinking anything beyond Baahubali. Mahabharata is definitely not after this.”
