The trailer of Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon’s Raabta released today and before anything else kudos to the makers for pairing the actors. The two are looking stunning together, and their onscreen chemistry is bang on. In fact, even Jim Sarbh fits in perfectly. From the trailer, it is clear that it’s a story about reincarnation, about chasing love through centuries. And this is not the first time Bollywood is using this concept. The plot and even a couple of visuals of Raabta reminded us of a few movies from the past. Take a look at 5 such films…

Prem: This love story starring Tabu and Sanjay Kapoor took four long years to take final shape. In their first birth, the characters of this 1995 film donned the tribal look, which seems to be similar to characters in Raabta. Though, in Raabta Sushant is also the part of a tribe, unlike Sanjay in Prem.

Mirzya: Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra’s last release featured Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher in lead roles.
Though not about reincarnation, the movie did narrate two parallel stories. Some scenes in Raabta gives very Mirzya like vibes.

Dangerous Ishq: Karisma Kapoor returned to the big screen after her hiatus with this Vikram Bhatt directorial. The movie did not feature one or two reincarnations, but the character takes three re-births. Wow! And this movie also had one antagonist chasing the girl over the foundations of time.

Baahubali: The SS Rajamouli venture had a particular waterfall and a tribe living near it play a big role in the narrative. Raabta also has a shot of a gigantic waterfall, and we wonder what part it is going to play. The shot also has tribesmen standing near a water body.

Magadheera: While we talking about gems of South Indian cinema, how can we forget Magadheera. The movie is one of the best movies about reincarnation. Some of the few shots of Raabta remind us of this Kajal Aggarwal starrer.

We hope all the similarities are a mere coincidence, and Raabta has something fresh to offer.
